Position: Ministry of Digital Affairs of Poland, Research and Innovation Department

Renata Palen is the Counsellor in the Research and Innovation Department, currently responsible for regulatory and policy implementation of the AI Act and supporting innovation in that domain.
Since 2013 in the public sector, in the Ministry of Digital Affairs of Poland. From 2017 the national expert seconded to the European Commission. For last 4 years in the DG CNECT.H3 eHealth, Well-being and Ageing unit responsible for digital health and care policies and innovative projects management.
Senior expert in the field of digital legislation and policy development and implementation concerning: AI in health and care, medical devices and medtech, health data access and data management, digital identity, with an expertise gained in the government administration as well as software and telco companies operating on local, European and global markets.
Member of Digitising European Industry and Artificial Intelligence (MS Group on DEI and AI) as well as Horizon Europe Programme Shadow Committee for Digital, Industry and Space Cluster. Since 2014 she managed the Single Point of Contact for Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) a key EU funding instrument to promote growth, jobs and competitiveness through targeted infrastructure investment at the European level.
